Level 988 looks a lot harder than it when you first see the board almost completely covered in two kinds of chocolate!
It is nowhere near as bad as it looks as long as you don't let the chocolate take over. After the first couple of moves, which you won't have much choice about, you should aim to make moves near the bottom of the board as much as possible. You will need combos to clear all the chocolate but you can't afford to leave the chocolate to grow for more than one or two moves while you make those combos.
This has to be a balancing act between what you need, special candies and combos, and keeping the chocolate from getting out of control. If you can work close to the bottom you should get cascades which will help keep the chocolate under control, but don't forget to look at the top too as there may be chances to make colour bombs and colouring candies which you don't want to miss.
Switch colour bombs with any other special candy, they will all clear chocolate but if there are only a couple of squares left a fish is probably best as you can guarantee it will get chocolate.
