You will need to clear the peppermint stick as soon as you can, but make sure that you clear as much licorice as you can from above it before you clear it because the licorice will block the blast and greatly reduce the effect of the peppermint stick.
Look for special candies and combos whenever possible as you will need plenty of powerful combos to have any chance of clearing level 1142.
Once the peppermint stick is gone take a couple of minutes to study the board and see what you need to do next.
Colourbomb/wrap combos are great for clearing everything including licorice. Colourbomb/stripe combos are not so good because the licorice will block the blasts and you may not get as much clearance as you need from this combo.
