Spreading the jam is not too much of a problem, so if you concentrate on clearing the licorice and blockers the jam will take care of itself.
There are only 5 colours on the board so making special candies and combos is not too hard, you just need to concentrate and not waste moves as there are not many to spare.
Once you have cleared the black candy blockers work as close to the bottom of the board as you can to take advantage of the cascades created by your moves.
Fish will spread the jam to the last few squares once you are nearly done.
