Get started straight away by making any special candies you can, even fish if there are no better ones to be had.

Don't worry about the jam too much, if you concentrate on making combos the jam will spread itself as you work on clearing the board.
Stripe/wrap combos are godd as are colour bombs switched with any other special candy.
