The jam begins at the top under the licorice dispensers so you need to get it spreading fairly quickly.
You can do this by matching at the top, or a colour bomb/fish or stripe will work as long as there are candies the same colour as the fish or stripe in the jam.
If you don't get the jam spreading fairly quickly you are going to struggle, clearing the black candies is not really a priority, they will be cleared as you play.
Look carefully at the whole board before every move and don't waste any.
