The candies move from left to right so if you work mostly on the right side of the board you may get cascades which will help you make combos to clear the chocolate.
Make matches next to the black candies but at the same time look for special candies which you can use to clear some chocolate. Stripe/wrap combos are good for this.
Once the black candies are gone you'll get a row of licorice which will block your stripes, but it will also stop the chocolate from spreading while you get some more specials and combos together in the top half. While you are doing this the licorice will be cleared and you can attack the chocolate with any combos you can get together.

Fish switched with any other special candy are good as they will carry the stripe or wrap over the licorice and into the chocolate. Sideways stripes with fish are especially useful, but if you can make a colour bomb or colouring candy and switch with another special candy better still as long as there is not too much licorice blocking the board.
